Ultra Core
Ultra Core Candlewick offers the rigidity of zinc . . . without the metal wire. This product line gives candle makers their independence from using zinc core wicks. Ultra Core is an all fiber wick. It has the rigidity of zinc core without any wire or paper in the core.
The core is a specially treated fiber that completely consumes. Since the core of this advanced wick consists of fibers and not metal, it does not leave behind the unsightly metal wire protruding from the flame as it burns.
The wick stays straight during the candle fill and more importantly during the burn. This wick is an excellent choice for container candles. Our Ultra Core candlewick is available on spools or waxed and tabbed to your manufacturing requirements.

ULTRA CORE Burn Rate Chart
Our wick size description is very “user-friendly”. The description represents the two hour pool diameter in a 140° melt point straight cut paraffin wax. This method allows the user to easily compare wick size and performance. This chart provides the candle maker a starting point for wick selection. Your wick selection will depend on wax blend, color and fragrance additives.

The data from Fil-Tec’s lab charts are offered as a tool to help customers in making a wick selection. We provide this data for reference only and should not be used as anything other than a suggestion of a starting place for the customer’s own testing. It should never be used in place actual burn testing by the customer.
Candle systems contain many variables. Wax types, additives, and formulations all affect a candle in different ways, regardless of wick. The wick that is chosen should always be confirmed through a rigorous testing process to determine if it is the best choice for a particular candle system.
Fil-Tec is not responsible for wick selections made by the customer using any of the reference material provided or suggestions by Fil-Tec personnel. The safest and most optimal candle systems are derived from extensive, ASTM compliant burn testing that is conducted by the customer or paid independent laboratory in their own environments. The importance of the candle maker’s own testing and validation of tests cannot be emphasized enough.
Along with the rigorous testing, we highly suggest that the customer retains wick samples and pertinent production information. (i.e. Component part numbers and product descriptions).
As the customer, you and your company are responsible for testing all Fil-Tec candle wicks in your own candle systems and for making the final wick selection based upon meeting proper candle safety standards such as ASTM candle safety guidelines.
